Feast of Tabernacles

Sri Lanka is a small island of diversity off the southern coast of India.  The climate is tropical, the people are wonderful and hospitable, and the food is delicious.  Visitors will enjoy beautiful sunsets over the Indian Ocean.

The location of the Feast will be the Goldi Sands Hotel located in Negombo.  Negombo is located on the western shore of Sri Lanka at the mouth of a lagoon.  The town originally flourished as a trading port and a center for cinnamon production in Sri Lanka but now is famous for its fishing industry.  The Goldi Sands Hotel is located on the beach where feast goers can enjoy swimming in the Indian Ocean and strolling along the miles of fine sand beaches.  The weather will be tropical with sunny skies tempered with cooling effects of tropical rains.

Services will be in English, and the expected attendance is approximately 25 people. One of the highlights of the Feast will be the talent show.  Short excursions can also be arranged during the Feast and longer excursions to the hill country (tea-producing area) can be arranged before or after the Feast.  Take advantage of a wonderful opportunity to develop lasting friendships with our Sri Lankan brethren and experience their unforgettable Sri Lankan culture.

International guests will arrive at the Colombo (Bandaranaike) International Airport.  Negombo is located approximately 7 miles from the airport and taxis are available for a nominal fee.

The room rates are $110 per night for a single room, $125 per night for a double room and $140 per night for a triple room.  These rates are for full board basis which includes buffet meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The hotel’s child policy is as follows;

0 – 5 years of age – free of charge (Extra bed – Rs. 1,500.00)

6 – 12 years of age – 50% of the double per person rate (including an extra bed)

Welcome to COGWA

Following the example of Jesus and the New Testament Church, our congregation worships on Saturday and observes the annual Holy Days which are recorded in Leviticus 23. It is by observing these days that we more fully appreciate God’s plan of salvation for mankind and we prepare ourselves for service in the soon-coming Kingdom of God. If you would like to know more about us, I invite you to review our Fundamental Beliefs.

January Visit

On January 31st I departed on a trip to Asia and the Middle East to visit our members scattered across this vast geographic region.  I arrived in Bangkok late night on February 1st and continued on to Colombo, Sri Lanka on the morning of Wednesday, February 3rd.  After landing in Colombo, I traveled to Mt. Lavinia to visit with our members and then continued on to Hikkaduwa to visit our FOT site for 2016.  Rodney and Jean VanHeer accompanied me on the trip.  Thursday, February 4th was the Sri Lankan Independence Day and it was very enjoyable watching the ceremony at the hotel – national anthem, speeches in various languages, more music and special sweets.  After the ceremony we toured the Citrus Hotel which should be a nice facility for the FOT.

Friday, February 5th I traveled to Kuwait City.  I enjoyed spending the Sabbath with our member, Priyantha and his two sons Mark and Steven.  It is always difficult for isolated members such as Priyantha and he would appreciate your prayers as he faces some difficult personal trials.

Early Sunday morning I departed Kuwait City for Dubai on FlyDubai Airways.
